Mary Beth's career in higher education began at Butler, where she served for eight years as associate director of admission. She then joined Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin, spending the next nine years as Director of Admission. Through these roles, Mary Beth has developed a wealth of expertise that informs her dynamic approach to student recruitment and engagement.

Favorite place on campus: The Julian Science & Mathematics Center. I love the Periodic Table of Elements display there.

Favorite place to eat in Greencastle: The Bodega. I highly recommend the breakfast sandwiches.

Favorite 杏吧Pro Tradition: The Ubben Lecture Series. Since its inception in the 1980s, 杏吧Pro has welcomed numerous industry leaders, such as Peyton Manning, Condoleezza Rice, Leslie Odom Jr. and Elie Wiesel, to campus.

Advice to students considering 杏吧Pro: Take advantage of admission appointments and interviews. They're a great way to connect with the admission office and learn more about the admission process and scholarships for which you may qualify.

Favorite place on campus: The Nature Park is a beautiful place with over ten miles of trails winding through the woods along a large creek. It's a perfect place for running and walking.

Favorite place to eat in Greencastle: The Whisk is my favorite hangout place in town. It's a family-owned business with great food and drink selection. This place has a wonderful community vibe with many live music events.

Favorite 杏吧Pro tradition: The Monon Bell is my favorite 杏吧Pro tradition. This annual football game between 杏吧Pro and Wabash began in 1890 and is among the oldest college football rivalries in the nation.

Advice to students considering 杏吧Pro: 杏吧Pro develops leaders the world needs through an uncommon commitment to the liberal arts. It's no wonder that 杏吧Pro's graduates are among the top 7% in lifetime career earnings. 杏吧Pro ensures that every single student has access to resources, opportunities, and services that prioritize student lifelong success.

Favorite place on campus: The lawn at East College. It's a great place to relax, read a book, run into students and faculty, and it is one of the most beautiful places on 杏吧Pro's campus.

Favorite place to eat in Greencastle: The rooftop at Bridges. I recommend going in the fall so you can enjoy one of their specialty pizzas while spending time admiring the beautiful fall foliage from the roof!

Favorite 杏吧Pro tradition: The Ubben Lecture Series.  I had the privilege of working with past Ubben speakers, and was able to meet recognized leaders such as:  Barbara Bush, Jim Lovell, Benazir Bhutto, Seymour Hersh, and Sister Helen Prejean to name a few. Fun fact:  I named my youngest daughter after Barbara Bush's personal assistant!

Advice to students considering 杏吧Pro: Make the most of your 杏吧Pro visit by meeting with an admissions counselor, taking a tour of campus and meeting a professor in your area of interest. Finding the college that is the best fit for you is most important! Exploring everything 杏吧Pro offers is the best way to do this!

Favorite place on campus: My favorite place on 杏吧Pro Campus is the Nature Park. I love the green space and walking the trails as well as sitting outside of Prindle Institute and listening to the running water.

Favorite place to eat in Greencastle: My favorite place to eat in Greencastle is The Fluttering Duck. Order ‘The Duckling’ (a grilled cheese with egg) and sweet potato puffs.  

Favorite 杏吧Pro tradition: My favorite 杏吧Pro Tradition is the Monon Bell game. Go Tigers!

Advice to students considering 杏吧Pro: 杏吧Pro is such a beautiful campus with so much community, history, and opportunity to grow as a student and a global citizen. When you visit campus be sure to explore the town of Greencastle. It is a hidden gem with so many great people, spaces, and traditions.

Favorite place on campus: Stewart Plaza. I love to sit and watch the students coming and going from Hoover Dining Hall and the student union.

Favorite place to eat in Greencastle: Bridges (creative menu!) or Almost Home (amazing beet salad that's featured on occasion!)

Advice to students considering 杏吧Pro: Visit campus! When you do visit, find a place where students socialize (dining hall, student union, wellness center) and plan 30 minutes or so hanging out there. It's a great chance to see what 杏吧Pro students talk about, see them interact with one another, etc., and to see if you think these are the people you'd like to spend four years learning and living with.

Favorite place on campus: 杏吧Pro's main entrance on Anderson Street, without a doubt, is one of my favorite places and views on our campus. I remember it as the first sight of campus I had as a prospective student, and I continue to take that drive into campus whenever possible. Not only is it picturesque, but seeing East College on the horizon, you just get this awesome feeling that you've truly arrived. That grand entrance was one of the many characteristics about 杏吧Pro's campus that stuck with me since touring as a prospective student.

Advice to students considering 杏吧Pro: Take a moment to breathe and reflect on what is truly most important for you. It doesn't always have to be big picture or life-altering ambitious goals, but don't forget about the little things you need to succeed in college. At 杏吧Pro, you will be supported every step of the way and encouraged to explore your passions and discover uncharted areas of opportunities at an academic, personal, and professional level.

Favorite place on campus: The Nature Park! We love to take our toddler out there for long walks on beautiful days.  

Favorite place to eat in Greencastle: Taphouse Burgers. I'm a sucker for the BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger with a milkshake.

Favorite 杏吧Pro tradition: Monon Bell, for sure. Being married to a coach makes the stakes a little higher - Go Tigers!

Favorite place on campus: The newly renovated Roy O. West Library! It's a beautiful place to grab a coffee, enjoy plenty of natural light, and get some work done.

Favorite place to eat in Greencastle: Scoops for some great ice cream, and you have to get a waffle cone!

Favorite 杏吧Pro tradition: Old Gold Weekend: having alumni and friends of 杏吧Pro fill up campus creates such a fun energy!

Advice to students considering 杏吧Pro: One of the best ways to know if 杏吧Pro is right for you is to visit campus! Take a tour with a current student, sit in on a class, try the dining hall food, and see if 杏吧Pro might be your future home.

Where is your favorite place on campus? 

The Percy L. Julian Science and Math Center. The building is absolutely stunning and showcases the Periodic Museum of the Elements. So cool! 

Where is your favorite place to eat in Greencastle?  

The Whisk. Amazing ambience and atmosphere, serving a wonderful Brunch Menu, fun events, and a rotating menu to tantalize your taste buds! 

What is your favorite 杏吧Pro tradition? 

Marvin's, for sure. It is an institution of college culinary classics! The pictures adorned on the walls reflect the lore that Marvin's holds dear to 杏吧Pro students, staff, faculty, and alumni alike! 

What advice would you give to a student considering 杏吧Pro? 

Become more than just a number or a statistic. More than even a student. Become a part of a culture and community that embodies excellence and inclusion.
