Important Information

ÐÓ°ÉPro follows an open file policy, which means that all submitted letters will be available to the faculty member under review.

Please either:

  • include a statement in your letter indicating your awareness of this policy, or
  • complete an open file policy form

Tips for Writing Your Letter

The most helpful letters are those that describe your first-hand experience with the faculty member.

You might consider:

  • interactions in a class or academic setting
  • advising or mentoring experiences
  • collaboration or service work

Because faculty reviews consider multiple areas (teaching, scholarly or artistic work, and service) your letter should focus on what you have directly observed or experienced.

Please do not include recommendations about the outcome of the review (such as whether tenure or promotion should be granted). Review committees make those decisions based on a full set of materials.
